Being Joe Walsh

Did you know that Joe Walsh was in a band called the Herbs?  Me either?  He certainly is an interesting character if anything but boy do I love that guitar riff near the end of Life’s Been Good.  It’s right before the greatest lines that have followed me since my youth and even though I have never been famous nor do I want that, yeah I know I am blogging and broadcasting my innermost feelings here for the world to see but only a few people see them so no harm no foul, right?  Anyhow, these lyrics spoke so much to me:

I go to parties sometimes until four
It’s hard to leave when you can’t find the door
It’s tough to handle this fortune and fame
Everybody’s so different, I haven’t changed
They say I’m lazy but it takes all my time
(Everybody say oh yeah, oh yeah)
I keep on goin’ guess I’ll never know why
Life’s been good to me so far
Did I go to parties until 4am, yes, and sometimes I couldn’t find the floor. This happened while I was crawling around on it but I was 15 years old and it had been one of the first times I had been drinking. Yes, I have heard, lazy, hypochondriac, all kinds of stuff because of my invisible illness.  I go out and take photos of live music events and such and then post it on social media.  I am not going to lie, There was an MMA fighter that has the same condition that I am recovering from which Cauda Equina Syndrome and she was recently in the news.  I hope and pray that she recovers and can return to the ring as this condition wears many faces and is so different yet so familiar for all of us that have it.  Anyhow, someone made a comment to me that I obviously am not that bad since they see me out from my posts.  If they only knew that I am home alone most of the day and in pain trying to forget about it.  Yeah, I do get to get high but I also have to face down other demons in my life when the pain gets to be too much.  So far so good.
Another great song for this Sunday morning and I love my Sunday mornings Take the Money and Run by the Steve Miller Band.  I had never really listened to the bass lines and that janky guitar but it made me search out their song The Joker.
Cause I’m a picker
I’m a grinner
I’m a lover
And I’m a sinner
Playin’ my music in the sun
I’m a joker
I’m a smoker
I’m a mid-night toker
I sure don’t want to hurt no one
You’re the cutest thing that I ever did see
I really love your peaches
Want to shake your tree
Lovey dovey, lovey dovey, lovey dovey all the time
Ooh wee baby, I sure show you a good time
Note to all you young guitar guys & gals, check out the video.  The video I found on Youtube is a little wonky ’cause it is from the 70’s but the playing is the shit.  Steve Miller makes these wolf whistles with his guitar, you have probably heard it.  Okay, I get easily amazed and am not a musician.
It’s Easter Sunday here in the Coachella Valley and the last day of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival.  I made a brave first step last week and reached out to a model for a shoot and she said yes.  Hopefully, I will be ready so I will need to lay low for the next few days to rest.
So, has Life Been Good? Yes, life has been good.  I have four great kids, three grand kids with one the way, I can still walk and feel my legs, albiet with a walker,  I can walk into a weed store in Palm Desert, California and buy pre-rolled joints and craft pot in fancy little snack bags.  How ’bout that?  Yes, there are always going to be some days that are better than others and then there are going to be those days when you get a free Krispy Kreme donut for no reason.   Donuts sound so amazing right now and more coffee.
To you dear reader may you find peace, love and happiness and may the sun shine brightly on you where ever you are today.  Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you again.
