Happy friggin’ Monday! Just booked my hotel and bus ticket to Phoenix and it’s kind of got me scared but excited all at the same time. My dear high school friends’s daughter is getting married and I am honored that they asked me to shoot photos of the wedding. Originally, I was going to leave from our place on the morning of the wedding with hubby. However, hubby is playing the night before with The Ghosts of Kelso in Indio. As hard as it was for me to not be there to watch him I knew that it was in my best interest to leave the day before as I know I will need to rest as much as possible. This will be my first time out more than an hour by myself. The bus ride is only 5 hours and me being a frugal person, the bus ticket, purchased from Flix Bus, is only a little under $23.00, taxes and fees included. Pretty nifty if you are into inexpensive travel. Now, I start prepping for this wedding. I have started looking at photos of the place where the wedding is being held to try and get a feel for the area. Really, I can’t wait. Going anywhere farther than 20 miles is an adventure for me lately. So look out Arizona, here I come!
The past few days have been good. I am worn out physically but I have not slept better in months. Happy to report that I can now swim non-stop for 30 minutes. In past week I have incorporated more freestyle laps so now I swim four laps breast stroke and 4 laps free stroke…lather, rinse, repeat till my time is up. Today though, the last five minutes felt like 20 minutes. Also, the PT gave me a red rubber strap to use while I am in the pool. I tie it to the pool handle and use my body to help build my core. It also helps when doing squats. I have been able to do three sets of 10 in the pool and boy am I starting to feel those. I also do ten minutes with the kick board. I can’t wait till I stop retaining water in my legs to tell if I have lost any weight. Yeah, the thing is my doctors say the swelling is not caused by my condition but everything that would cause swelling that they have tested me for indicates that I am healthy and they don’t know why or what is causing it. Inflammation, like pain, is a symptom and I hope that they figure something out as I know there are others that are having this issue and being told the same things.
Yesterday, we spotted some construction vehicles!! Oh my, I got so excited!! There is going to be an American Cancer Society benefit coming up called the Big Dig and it is sponsored by Agua Caliente Band of Indians. It happens in October and I am so looking forward to it with giddy excitement! The FB post indicated that kids and big kids like me will be allowed to ride on the equipment! Smiling from ear to ear just thinking about it!!!
Nothing like a big, yellow excavator to get my heart racing. I just don’t know why I have this fascination with them but they remind me of big Tonka Toys that I always wanted but never got. The sky was so blue yesterday. The setting sun over the Santa Rosa Mountain was so bright, it was almost blinding to look at. All in all, it was a nice drive.
It is time to start editing again. I think I am ready. I usually look over all the photos in thumbnails and pick out a few that stand out and save. That is my first pass. Then I take the card out and come back to it when I am ready, the second pass. Sometimes I go back 4 to 5 times more. So, now I think I am almost there.
Oh yeah girl sing it! I guess I kind of needed to hear this song sung by Martina McBride
And with a broken wing
She still sings
She keeps an eye over the sky
With a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man you oughta see her fly
