Sunrise

Good morning to you where ever in the world you are on this Sunday morning. May 17, 2020. I have always wanted to say that, kind of like Charles Kuralt did when he opened his CBS weekly show Sunday Morning during his run in the 80’s. I used to watch it with my parents while we ate breakfast. He was a staple just like Erma Bombeck. Lately on Sunday morning’s I am up editing or working on stuff. It’s been a rough last few days so I have been all over and kind of scattered. My pain levels have been beyond the scales but that just means that I refocused it in other places. I spent lots of time outside playing in the sun taking photographs of water and then doing other things that does not involve irritating my swollen spinal nerves. Laying on the hot cement actually feels good and is a great way to get a healthy dose of Vitamin D which is good for the nervous system.

Here is a little Norah Jones as I surely needed this. Theme music perhaps…Press Play..

This song is within my range and I had sang this often, with a friend…
I like water because you can manipulate the reflections with light, color and movement.
I have been spending most of my days by myself with the animals, in the back, playing with my cameras and water.

Anyhow, it seems just as I start getting ready to do something, like reformat my website and re-edit old shoots, my spine has other plans. This has been my life for the last decade. No wonder I have been so scattered and have never finished anything. Honestly, it was hard to come back here and write as this feels forced but I knew that I needed to like it’s a pseudo therapy session.

Yesterday, I got to meet another neighbor. Jenny, my pug busted through our screen door. Well, busted is a lie, the latch is broken on the screen door and she got excited and ran out after two dogs that were at the window. I knew what dogs she was barking at by the high octaves she was hitting in her barking. When she is fearful her bark is high pitched and fast. There are a few dogs and people in our complex that make her sing in that range. We have a few neighbors that walk their dogs right next to our windows. I get it, we live in a gated community and technically our front yard is community front yard. However, when I walk our dog, I make it a point to not walk her right next to any of our neighbors windows. Since the surgery to remove L-4 and L-5 from my spine, I have had issues walking. Often when I sit too much I get swelling in the spinal nerves and this causes heaviness in my legs and severe pain when walking, sitting, breathing and thinking. Even with all this going on in my body, I still get on with it, as best as possible, with my every day stuff. Our dog gets very excited when she sees other dogs, because of this, I try and keep her away from other dogs as she could easily pull me to the ground as I am unsteady on my feet. I go out of my way to walk away from other people and will turn around and walk away if see some one with a dog walking our way if Jenny does not know them. Really, I don’t like confrontation anymore. I grew up where confrontation was a way of life and if you were here now, my eyes actually have tears in them thinking about being bullied in my life. Believe it or not, women, yes women have bullied me the most in my life! (that is a whole other story I will have to write about). Anyhow, Jenny ran out and got tangled up with her two dogs. She started yelling about my dog attacking her. I went into “fight or flight” and saw that Jenny’s paw’s were tangled up in her leashes. By the way, I chose flight.

I did say sorry or something like that and grabbed my dog and retreated back in the house as she causing quite a scene. She was speaking loudly, waving her hand and such. I just wanted to get out of there. We both didn’t have on masks and I had not been feeling well. Hubby was in the back and had no idea what was going on. I know that I probably should have said more and asked her if she was okay but honestly, she was already looking for a fight. Why else would she continually walk her dog next to our window to make Jenny our pug, bark every day and then get upset when my dog ran out the door the first chance she got? I hope her dogs are okay as I would never want anything bad to ever happen to an animal. A few hours later, I went to get the mail, I never go to get the mail, ever. I had made it a few feet from our front door when that lady drove up in her gold car and said “I was coming to see you…blah..blah…blah” then she told me she didn’t like the way I handled it, that I should fix my door, that I should do this, that I should care, that I was rude, that I shouldn’t say fuck. Oh yeah, I said fuck because I let that entitled girl speak like a polite person would. She rudely spoke to me in my front yard that she came at me with out a face mask. I let her speak, uninterrupted. Then I asked her for one minute to speak, without interruption, because she wouldn’t shut up. She just kept interrupting. Then I just said, “I have had enough, you won’t let me speak.” and walked away. Again, not my proudest moment. I had a chance to make a friend, possibly, but I just didn’t feel that coming from her. What I felt was that kid in school that got teased for being fat, or too tall, or too ugly. You see, I have seen this girl when I have walked around in the complex before and I have smiled and waved hello to her before or for her to look the other way like she didn’t see me. By the way, we have other neighbors who have dogs that Jenny happily barks at. They come up to the window and the pitch in her bark is friendly. Jenny’s pitch is not like that with her, so, I have to side with my dog. I will be sure to stay away from her and others. Really, that was so unnecessary. Again, I am not saying that I was right, but I will be more kind and practice more of what I preach as hard as it is.

Yesterday, I did get a surprise in the mail. I ordered a Polaroid Pop 2.0. I wanted to be able to print photos instantly, even if they aren’t perfect. The colors could be brighter and I am sure there are tricks to get it to work better. I am looking forward to creating some fun little memories with it.

They really do not print out perfect like the box advertises but they have that kitschy 70’s feel that I loooove!

So, I feel a little lighter, but not much. I hate that I had that run in with my neighbor yesterday and really, it is weighing heavy on me. I will try to smile more or as Tyra Banks would say, I will “Smize” since we have to wear masks. I do have expressive eyes as I have been told a time or two in my life. Time for me to breath deeply and think before acting out. Time for me to put myself in someone else shoes. She might have been having a bad day. Maybe she has no friends and is lonely too. Everyone has a story that they hide by wearing a mask, even if the mask is loud talking and rudeness. Anyhow, this is just hurt me speaking right now. I will be fine in the next five minutes, nothing really lasts that long with me ever.

Thank you reader, for stopping by for a visit. May you have a peaceful day and smile at your neighbor! Hugs to you cause I know I could really use one!

  1. I’m sorry for you that you’ve had to endure such terrible pain. I’ve suffered from chronic pain in my right knee for many years, and when I sit for more than a short time, it becomes quite stiff. When I get up, I can barely stand or walk for several seconds. I’m scheduled for a knee replacement at Eisenhower next month.

It’s unfortunate when we have neighbors who are inconsiderate, or when misunderstandings occur between them and us, often over trivial things but then grow into major confrontations. Hopefully that neighbor won’t become a nuisance.

    1. Oh wow. Sorry that you have to go through your knee surgery during this time. I know all too well about the difficulty sitting. Spinal pain mimics pain in all areas. I hope that your knee surgery goes well and you will be walking pain free soon. I am so happy that we now have pool access back : ) best for people like us.

Yeah, I really do not know my neighbors and stick to my self. So that really bothered me. However, I am not going out there looking for a fight.

Take care and have a great Sunday evening 🙂

That’s a sad situation. Neighbors can be such a pain. Especially when you’re in pain and don’t want to deal with them.

    1. I have lived here five years in this gated community and have met 3 of my neighbors and I have met those people in the last year. We really keep to ourselves. So yeah, it was surprising and sad for my dog. Jenny really just wanted to go sniff those other dogs and they had been coming to the window to see her…

We don’t know a lot of our neighbors, but everyone has one or more acres of land.

      2. That would be a dream! I have always wanted to have a enough land so we were not to close to our neighbors and we could have chickens and maybe a goat or two. A garden would be a huge plus. Right now I have an all cement patio.

All cement is no fun. We have a wild property. The animals love it. We gave up on vegetable gardens. Between the gophers, raccoons, porcupine and squash bugs, we did a lot of work and they got most of what we grew. So we grow mostly roses and wild plants these days.

      4. Tell me about it! Plus we have a bunny that eats everything. Anytime the wind knocks one of my plants over or I leave a chair to close to the “garden” (it’s an old patio table) she has mowed threw a whole season of peppers and tomatoes. Yeah, I am with you on giving up on vegetables. Flowers are a little easier. Besides I have been getting thee cool bumble bees and the humming birds sure like the flowers.
Your flowers and photos of wildlife are pretty amazing. You are quite lucky where you live.

    Howdy!

I guess you handled it perfectly. I mean, you could yell back at her and made a scene, but you didn’t. And that’s wonderful. 🙂

Thanks for the Norah Jones’ Sunrise. She is one of my favorites. 🙂

    Have a wonderful day. 🙂

    1. Hey there! How are you on your side of the world? Hope all is going well.

Yeah, it was a sad scene but I am not young and ready to fight anymore. Really, fighting never accomplishes anything. I guess some people are just looking for fights. I will just stay inside were it is safe 🙂

I love Norah Jones. Her Dad is Ravi Shankar, A sitar player, which I think is pretty cool in itself. 🙂

Take care and have a wonderful day.

All is well here. 🙂 I hope you’re doing well too. Been doing some stuff these days, could find enough time to do the blogwalking 🙂

You’re right. There’s no point in fighting. I opt to go away if such thing happens… And we won’t be the one who “lose face,” right? LOL

I just knew several years ago that Norah Jones is the daughter of a sitar player but I haven’t heard Ravi Shankar’s music. I guess I’m gonna search him on YouTube. 🙂

You too… Take care and have a wonderful day.

      2. Bigwalking?!?! Where did you go? No, I need to read your blog. instead of looking at the pictures only…sorry 🙂
Yeah, I can’t believe she came back a second time to tell me she didn’t like the way I handled it. Frankly, I didn’t like the way I handled it either. I could have been nicer, really. You are so right about losing face. People don’t talk much about that, must be a cultural thing. I get her though, it is hard to be a women and always feeling like you have to be loud in order to be heard. However, that is not the way, kindness and compassion is.
Yeah, the sitar is very cool. I think he died, if I am not mistaken. I really want to take some music classes so I can know more about instrument so I don’t have to rely on hubby for my information 🙂

Hahaha… Nice one. You got me 😀

You know, right… Sometimes I think it’s not fair. You try to behave but the others just don’t. You know, when I drive a motorbike (motorbikes are everywhere here in this part of the world) or a car, I never use the horn because I know that people have their reasons to do things on the road. If they suddenly stop, I assume they have a problem. And I have the brake pedal anyway. But I observe that people use horn carelessly as if they are dealing with some animals walking on the street. Anway… forgive my ranting 🙂

It’s hard to believe that Norah Jones is half-Asian. I thought she was European, a French-descent perhaps. 🙂

      4. Oh, no I am afraid for you! I used to ride a scooter and then a Honda Rebel until I had an accident. Yeah, Becareful, no one watches out for motorbikes. Yes, horns are used very uselessly. I have ranted those same things. I have also hit the side of a few windows when someone pulled up too close to my bike because they didn’t see me. I am so glad my kids do not drive motorcycles. Although, I miss driving one and still dream about it.

She has a unique beauty to her that is for sure and I guess now I do see that she quite a mix. I just think she is gorgeous! 🙂

No kidding! Honda Rebel?! That’s quite big a motorbike. But, yeah, it’s hard to forget about driving a motorbike. I still remember the first time I drive a motoped. 😀

When I was in college, I used to hear her songs. My favorite was Chasing Pirates or something. For me, her only competition is Katie Melua. Have you listened to her? Her song Nine Million Bicycles is so beautiful. 🙂

I just played that NJ song, I like it. I had never heard it. I love Katie Melua. I love her version of Just like Heaven. SHe is very good. You have a great knowledge of music!

I think so too… Her Just Like Heaven cover is so awesome. Her other song, Black and White is pretty cool too. It needed some time to dig the song but it is really beautiful. Naah… You’re knowledge of music is way richer 🙂

      8. Yeah but it really didn’t go that fast. He had a Katana and I could never keep up or could ever drive that bike. It was much too heavy for me. I still have a scar on my leg from where I burned my leg on the tail pipe of his bike…haha…Never ride on the back of a motorcycle in shorts!!

I have not heard that song, I will have to check it out. Hubby just came home for lunch. It is nice that he gets to come home for his break.

Yeah but you are adding to song library in my head 🙂

Hahaha.. The exhaust pipe is always the problem, even in motoped. 😀 I burnt the sole of one of my feet years ago and sometimes I can still imagine the pain 😀

Katie Melua’s voice is so unique. She believe she could sing happy songs but she would automatically add some bitterness into them. 😀

        Have a wonderful day 😀

      10. Oh no, say it isn’t so. My eyes are watering, just reading that you burnt the soles of your feet and my soles are tingling in empathy. Burns are no fun. I don’t want to imagine. I remember having to peel my leg off of the tail pipe. (Shudder) THose bikes are so dangerous. Really. I just worry about someone not seeing you guys, that is all.

Yeah, she is goodShe made me look up Regina Spektor. Another great lady. If you don’t know her, check her out.

Yeaa…. But at least it taught me something: do not ever climb up the motoped from the wrong side. 🙂

Oh my god, she sings beautifully. I’m listening “Samson” right now. Her voice sounds like Lenka, but I also hear the energy of Avril Lavigne on her voice. Thanks for mentioning her name! 🙂
