Good morning out there on this Friday and things are looking up, I guess. It’s May 22, 2020 and the world is still spinning, people are still dying and businesses are starting to open up again. I’m going to be Switzerland and will remain neutral. Too many of my friends and relatives are on both sides of the fence. I can see both sides as I kind of remember when I had to take an appointed anger management course or classes (whatever) to stop and take a few deep breaths, take a walk, put yourself in the other persons shoes, before reacting. Re-direct the anger, the fear. Yes, fear. A product of anger is fear. Not many people know or want to know that. Anyhow, I really don’t mean to be preachy. However, I will state this once, I respect all of my friends and families opinions and feelings on the state of our country but please respect mine. If I choose to wear a mask in the off chance that it may prevent another human being from becoming ill or put them at ease, then I will continue to do that as it is a small price to pay for humanity. It does not mean that I am for or against our President or that I am a Republican or a Democrat. It just means that I want to help be a part of the solution not part of the problem. I would gladly rock a blinged out mask to any bar or restaurant as soon as they are allowed to serve customers. Do I agree with shutting down the economy? Yes and no. We are two months in and now contingency plans can and need to be tested and rolled out. I do agree that people need to go back to work and children need to go back to school but this is nerdy, statistical me speaking, if protocols were more stringent in the beginning of this crisis, the US would be better off. I’m into over planning and having a strategy to prevent loss. This is from years of working with Loss Prevention with restaurants and night clubs via the accounting department and operations. Yeah, I know, I only use a 1/4 of my brain…I just shuddered thinking about those in-services on Beverly Blvd with 15-20 nightclub managers and DM’s, GMs all squeezed into a small conference room as we went over best practices for handling credit card transactions. There was never a thought of social distancing then during those meetings. Oh yeah back to my last thought…Instead, our own government, and this is my own opinion, acted like a bunch of spoiled children (Republican and Democrats) that didn’t want to do their chores. Oh yeah, I can’t help myself, but why is blaming a President three and half years out of office going to accomplish anything? Instead, they pointed fingers, called each other names and made up stories about each others while a shit storm brewed. (I really am envisioning a brown cloud with lightning bolts and turds raining out of it.) So, that was my 5 minutes on the soap box. To you my friends, I love you all and your faithfulness to stand for what you believe in, please respect my beliefs and others and I will be there to hug you when you are ready.

Before I go any further one magical thing happened yesterday. Thursday nights are usually Date Nights, for Hubby and I. We usually go to a casino to check out a live country band and I usually take photos from the balcony and ooh and aah over the musical equipment the musicians are playing and oh and the dancing. Anyhow, yesterday I got a Facebook notification that Whiskey Myers was having a live performance at 5 PM. It made my heart race with excitement. In February, they played at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney and I so wanted to go very badly. Unfortunately, Hubby also had to play a gig. Really, I contemplated getting a ticket and taking a bus and going by myself, but didn’t. I didn’t know anyone else that would go with me as none of my friends know of this band. Sad face. Anyhow, last night, I sat in front of my computer, very high and very happy watching and listening to them play some of my favorites. Okay, they had me at Bury My Bones as I tuned in a little late. It just went up hill from there forward. These guys, even though they played to an empty Billy Bob’s in Texas were so very soulful and effective. Don’t get me started on the fine instruments those dudes were playin’. I thought ya’ll should know… I felt like I was being serenaded alone in that room and getting my own private show. Uhhh, sorry neighbors and complex (I understand why I must be that problem neighbor.) It felt like we had a date night and it was the perfect end to yesterdays road trip. The entire video is around 50 minutes, if you have time to sit back and close your eyes, press play…

I was a food & beverage worker, my sons are F&B workers….

As I mentioned, Hubby and I took a road trip to Huntington Beach. It was exciting. His youngest had just graduated high school and we were going by her place for her drive by celebration. That is one of the sad things that the pandemic caused, No Graduations. I won’t post photos out of respect for her but it was nice to be included in any celebration as I am a step-parent, a proud one at that!

Congrats to all the 2020 Grads!!!

Traffic was lighter than it usually is for a Thursday but not really. We left the Coachella Valley around 10 AM and headed West on the 10 Freeway. It was nice to see that my prayers were answered and Caltrans had resumed working as the highways looked cleaner and it looked like streets and towns had started tidying up for the coming fire seasons. Surf City USA seemed normal-ish. Stores were closed and the pier was gated. That was a little weird and sad..

This was a sad sight.
I looked at a few places in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach as I wanted and still want and dream about living near the beach but could never afford it raising all my kids by myself glad that I was able to do all that I could on my own.

Things really are getting better in the grand scheme of things. Casinos are opening in a few hours here in the Coachella Valley. Signs were proclaiming it as we drove along the highway. I can’t wait to see how the stats will read in the coming weeks as the numbers did not indicate a huge increase of Covid-19 case in California after the Phase 2 openings in the last week.

Hopefully, in the not too distant future all the signs will be green and everything will be be open. All I know is that it is going to be busy here in the Coachella Valley as Phase 2 means that short term rentals are now available as well as some hotel accommodations for people that are itching for things to do and to get away from the city. This is me being Grama Kush, our community needs visitors. Visitors please be kind and thoughtful. That is all.

Thank you dear reader for stopping by and where you are going this weekend get there safely. Keep your eyes open. Hugs to you.

Congrats on your step-kid’s graduation 🙂 And it’s nice to know that your town is opening. I hope everything is getting better. 🙂

    1. Thank you! Very proud of her!

Hope all goes well, guess it has to. It can only go up from here. Just wish people would stop using their political differences to make a point and just do what is safer so that we can come to a resolution sooner. I am sure it will all work itself out soon.

Hope all is well in your country and you and your family and friends are safe and well 🙂

I hope so too. I guess these days self-discipline will help a lot. Don’t really care about the lack of measures and the reinforcement. Haha… And when this thing is really over, the life-style, the self-discipline, will linger and sustain our survival.

Thank you, Michelle 🙂 Stay safe too there 🙂

      2. You are welcome!

We shall see. Our country is so divided right now. The news reports show many people following the social distancing measures to keep people safe and then the new report shows crowds gathering without asks and people shouting about their freedom and how they don’t care. It is sad. Our own president is inciting reckless blame and insults and leading mindless followers to speak his hate as if it were truth.
Hopefully, in the future, people will continue to keep washing their hands 🙂 ha ha!!

Sorry, didn’t mean to be Debbie Downer…

Many parts of the world need true leadership these days, including my country. Haha. They are opening access in some (big) cities even though we are not yet sure whether or not we have reached the peak. But I hope everything’s gonna be okay.

Nah, it’s okay. It’s hard for me too not to be Happy Harry 😀

      4. Happy Harry! Ha ha!! You are so right. I know I may not be alive in twenty years but I can only imagine looking back at the at what a comdedy and tragedy it has been. I just don’t get how people can so callously say that it doesn’t matter that people die anyway and getting this virus is like getting hit by lightning. My own friends and relatives have said those words. Would they still say those words if it affected them personally? Sorry, on my soapbox again.
I need to be Merry Michelle!! 🙂

That’s also the reason used by many people here in my country. But it’s not fair, is it? When you’re infected, you’re a potential transmitter of the virus. Perhaps some people don’t really get it. Not too many people love Biology.

        Hahaha…. I guess I’m gonna be Smiley Sal 😀

      6. Smiley Sal! THat’s another great name! Ha ha! It is getting scary here right now. Not only do we have the virus now we have to worry about racial issues. Our country is hurting right now. We all need to be Smiley Sals.

Good morning by the way 🙂

Hi, Michelle! You woke up so early 🙂

Yeah, one or two weeks ago I saw a video about the racism. They yell at a group of people, telling them to go back home and that they don’t need them there. I was quite depressed watching the video. 😦 Come to think about it, we are all moved from somewhere, aren’t we? So their yelling is quite absurd.

Good evening from here. It’s 5.53 pm here. 🙂 Have a nice day. 🙂

      8. Yes, I have been up since 1 AM. Not feeling well. I thin I ate some bad chicken 😦

A policeman placed his knee on the neck of a black man, George Floyd, as he was subduing arresting him and had him handcuffed and his hands behind his back. Mr. Floyd had said during that time “I can’t breath” and then he couldn’t…anymore or ever. He died and now our country fall further into despair. It makes me sad.

Yes, the yelling and protesting is absurd. I totally agree with you. I wish we could all get along. That is what Rodney King once said.

Oh, no… It’s serious. I hope things don’t get worse. We are already on the bottom of the pit and the last thing we want is a riot.

But it didn’t occur near Coachella valley, did it?

Really glad to know that it is not happening there around your area.

Yeah, right… I read some news about it. I got goosebumps reading them. Couldn’t believe that such thing actually happened in our world, in our life time.

        Stay safe, M. 🙂
