Hello world! How are you today? It is January 26, 2021 and it has been almost a full week since Biden and Harris took the reigns in DC. Last week, for first time in my life, I watched an inauguration! Unfortunately, I slept through the entertainment portion of the day. I heard it was fabulous. I did shed a few happy tears as Kamala took the oath from Justice Sotomayor All felt right in the world, even though all is not right in the world. Over 400 K have perished due to the virus and its complications. Yesterday, our governor re-opened the state. Hopefully, during the last time out, people start to get behind science. You know, being respectful and wearing a mask or double mask, as I did yesterday when we went out. Yesterday, I got to go inside a store and check out stuff! It was so cool. Dare I say better than Disneyland. I was happy to go pick up new art and craft supplies as Hubby has been doing all the shopping. I forgot how much I missed pushing a cart beside him. Really though, we hurried in and out and sanitized ourselves in the car, like this is a normal thing. It has been almost a year into this pandemic and I don’t see the masks going away. Actually, I love the mask when going out! I don’t have to worry about food in my teeth or a stray booger in my nose or that I need a lip wax. Sorry, TMI…oh yeah, so as I mentioned, our state is re-opened with restrictions. I cross my fingers that people will keep following the science and wearing a mask and social distancing. Even though the numbers are declining, please consider the very hardworking people working in all essential services. We are in the midst of normal cold and flu season like no other, so please be safe for you and others. One last thing about our trip in the store yesterday, please, powers that be, keep the spacing adhesives on the floor. I hate grocery shopping as I hate to be crowded by other shoppers in check out and getting bumped by carts. Now with the spacing stickers on the floor, getting bumped by a shopping cart is no longer an issue. A silver lining, as there are many, that have come from the pandemic.

This was also on that lot.

The weather seems to be having it’s own party. Last night, I heard that Palm Springs had snow fall. How cool is that? Yesterday while we were out, I noticed that if you stood outside and turned a 360, you were most likely going to see snow covered mountains and hills in the lower elevations. We drove around Coachella for a few hours exploring. I was looking for rain puddles, but that is just me. The sky was so blue and crisp in the center of the valley and puffy clouds hugged the mountains and the valley.

This was shot at 10:18 AM 1/25/21 in Palm Desert.
This is in Coachella near the base of the Santa Rosa Moutnains.

Rain is almost as exciting as a celestial event around here. I only took a few shots of falling rain as it stopped yesterday morning, at least around here. Anyhow, we talk about rain with excitement or longing depending on the time of year. I was content with staying home as my bones were screaming. This month, as well most of the next, are hard for me as it is cold here in the desert. Every year Arthur Itis seems to hang out in my temple, a little longer and gets quite attention seeking. However, I just can’t sit back and hide. No, not me, I push myself a little more each day to keep moving in a forward direction and to keep challenging my brain. This week I worked on new recipes and crafts. I crocheted a few beanies and painted a couple of pictures for our walls.

Mini apple pie,
Lemon merengue! My favorite!
I am a hack! I only know a few stitches and am hopeless in understanding a crotchet pattern.

It was fun baking Mini Apple Pies and Lemon Merengue pies. For me, I have been struggling with my weight. I know that sugar or dessert should be something I should never speak about but I have been on every diet known to woman and probably some that most haven’t tried. The only time I lost a significant amount of weight is when I just cut my portions and worked out daily. With all my medical conditions, high proteins or fasting is not good for me. So, I am trying out new recipes in mini versions so that I only cook servings for just us two so there are little to no leftovers or trips for second helpings.

It was nice to get new canvas to paint on last week. Art has always intrigued me. When I was younger and in elementary school, I fondly remember loving everything about art time. Once a year we all got things ready to show at the LA County Fair in Pomona, CA, hoping that my art work would get picked for a prize. I was never as artsy as my school friends. One of my friends was a natural artist and her drawing were beautiful. She often won awards. Anyhow, sports entered my life and I gave up on art, besides I was not good at it. I even took Speech & Drama so I would not have to take art as a subject in school. Now, I totally enjoy creating and trying. Many of the photos I take are so that I can try and paint or draw of picture. A couple of days ago, I practiced with my animals. Here is a 1 minute video showing my latest painting. I am no Picasso, that is for sure!

I put two photos together and then sketched the animals with a very fine paint brush and black acrylic paint. I have often joked that I wanted to paint a picture of the animal waiting outside of the bathroom while Hubby is in there. We have a mirror that is next to that door…Now I have it!

I have few titles for this one, one being “On Guard!”

So, like I said, I am not an artist, in that sense but I see more paintings in the works. It really is relaxing and I can see why people do it! It is just like crocheting to me, something to keep my hands busy.

Time to get out of the sitting position and do stuff! Pleas Arthur Itis, go away, I did not invite you!

To you, dear reader, where ever you are, may the day treat you as you treat others. Be kind out there. I know hard it is to not want to point out bullshit that people feel they need to proclaim on social media. I post my thoughts and feelings here because they are my own and I have not copied and pasted from someone else’s work, unless it is a song from Youtube or article. Posting and ranting on Facebook is useless, really. My kids were right, FB is a waste. They hardly post anything. It makes me angry to still see people trying to be right about stuff it just makes them look uneducated, like the asshole that doesn’t know the meaning of TRAITOR!

  1. a person who betrays a friend, country, principle, etc.

To you asshole defending all those people that went beyond the scope of the Constitution and trying to overturn the election, I voted and so did millions and our votes counted and were legal. Unfortunately, for 70 or so Million others, your candidate lost. I was upset four years ago, but I did not shout from the roof tops my displeasure, I voted. What happened on January 6, 2021 was act of traitors, every single one! Yeah, I have read and heard all the stories of people saying that this was just like the BLM marches. No, it was not. I witnessed thousands of people storm the capital and only a few hundred have been arrested. People turned on police officers and hunted senators and congressmen and women and even the VP at the time. Anyhow, please keep my families name off the tip of your sad fingers. It just makes you look uneducated. Besides, we have been called worse. I hope you got what you needed by tagging us in a post. FB Paul Reveres, get a life, pick up a hobby! Your leader, the King of Idiots , needs to Impeached so he can never run for office again! That is all.

Sorry about that, I just need to vent. Have a lovely day and be well. Hugs and squeezes to you and you!

  3. I love when it’s cold & rainy here in the Coachella Valley, as we get far too many months of searing heat. And our already beautiful mountains become even more beautiful when covered with fresh snow. I love your little painting! It’s perfect just the way you painted it, and very sweet too! And finally, I couldn’t agree with you more re: all the delusional Trump apologists and traitors.

    1. It is gorgeous out there, even today. I do like when it is cold even with arthritis as I know it will pass quickly and then summer will start soon. We couldn’t believe how low the snow was in La Quinta even.

Thank you! It has been fun and relaxing! Yes, I agree, they are all delusional 😦

    Howdy, M!

Today we have the rare sunny day and I could do the laundry. 😀 Since late December the rain falls almost every day here and it gets cold at night. But not that cold, around 17-18 Celsius, perhaps.

Anyway, the pie looks delicious! 😀

    1. I would say, “Rain! How lucky!” but I can’t imagine days of rain. Your temperatures are warmer than it has been here by about 15 degrees. Does it always rain like that? These things are good to know if I ever plan a trip to that part of the world. Ha ha 🙂

      It was yum! 🙂

      Be safe and well.

Around six months each year. 😀 The rainy season usually starts late September or early November and lasts till March or April. 🙂

The best months for traveling to Indonesia are June, July and, August, during the peak of the dry season. 🙂

        You too! 🙂

      2. Six months of rain?1?! Wow. However, from the pictures of your country and the surrounding countries, the landscape is lush and green probably because of the rainfall. So, yes, you are lucky you guys get so much rain 🙂

Good to know. I have been looking at tour packages so that maybe when this pandemic is over, I will get to take my dream trip to Asia 🙂 I would love to spend a few months. I don’t think a traditional 7 day vacation will do 🙂

Hmmm, just thinking of all the photos I could take. 🙂
