Good morning World! You made it to Saturday, January 15, 2022, and that is a fantastic thing! This past week was busy. I got caught up in painting and creating crafts and such and getting a few things ready to ship to my friends. Speaking of friends, thank you to my friend Terrie for the lovely package of goodies that she sent. We met through our blogs here on WP and really, even though I only virtually know her, I do consider her to be a friend and confidante as I think that we have spoke on the phone more times in the past year than I have with anyone, including my family. Also, she feeds my eyes with her posts from her kitchen. Do check out one of her pizza posts and you will understand about the feast for the eyes.
By the way, I have been a bad person. I have a few things that have been waiting to get mailed out and I promise that they will go out this week! Not sure why I procrastinate but even at 51, I guess, I am still a work in progress.
The last few days I have been editing and reviewing video and photos from the happy hour gig that the guys played this past week in Desert Hot Springs. Really, I have been struggling with my computer situation. The PC is a little dated and needs an updated video card. This is probably why I am having so many issues trying to open Photoshop. Anyhow, I spent yesterday trying to sync up the videos and audio for one song. For that gig, I had placed my phone in front of the guys, for the first set and hit record. The second set, I moved the phone to the side near Hubby as my phone battery was dying and there was an outlet that I could use. Editing was not going well. I almost gave up. It took most of the day till I remembered the conversation that I had had with my middle son earlier in the day. He mentioned that he was changing his major to MATH. Let me tell ya’, my heart beamed with pride. Although math was not a favorite subject of mine till I was an adult, I totally appreciate it now. Why? Math is used in our everyday lives, without us even realizing. Just waking up to an alarm every day once the correct number of minutes and seconds adds up to 24 hours or when you are trying to adjust a recipe or the count beats to the start of a song. So, yesterday, I was getting flustered as I could not get the audio to sync with the edits that I had made. The program that I am using is very basic so I had to redo it several times. Some thing made me think back to the conversation with my son and I said out loud, “Ugh Math!!!” and I may have uttered a few other things that does not need to be written here, but I finally got it pretty close. Editing video definitely requires math. Once I nailed down the audio I just had to make sure that all the edits equaled the length of the audio file as well as know the song. I think it may be off by a few tenths of a second in a few parts but I barely noticed it. Besides, I am not a pro videographer and not doing this to drum up business. Me, I just love sharing the guys with the world.
So, math, it made editing easier. Hope I will remember this when I edit the next video. Editing photos right now, is also a bit of a hassle as well, because of the computer issues. Oh yeah, I should be researching computer repairmen…
Later this evening, we will be watching Sarah Winchester perform in Indio at Take Center Stage. I am looking forward to seeing her and her band perform at some place other than the casino. Also, I am happy to report that it will be held outdoors. Hopefully, I can snap a few good shots to work on later. I have been trying to recreate photos that I have taken in acrylic paint. This is one of the many things that I do to quiet pain in my life. In two weeks, I will be marking my third year since I had the surgery due to Cauda Equina Syndrome. Am I better? Yes. I am I back to where I was before the surgery? No, but learning to make the most of my life with what ever time that I have left. The passing of a few iconic people in the past few weeks had me pondering death and my life. For me I want to enjoy the last part of my life, and it took 51 years to find a hobby. I now have hobbies that I never had time or money for in the past. Now when people ask that common question, you know the one, “What do you like to do for fun?” or the “What’s your hobby?” I have an answer that I don’t have to search the dark recesses of my brain to find. I can now happily blurt out “Art!”
On Monday of this past week, I got Hubby to take me to a craft store, actually, a few craft stores. The best thing about this time of year are clearance sales! I found these cute wooden Christmas ornaments that were 70 percent off.
When I saw the wooden cat ornaments I instantly thought about painting them to resemble Taco Belle and Nora. There was not a dog shaped one so I improvised with Jenny’s.
These ornaments will probably hang on my wall until next Christmas. Now to try and get Hubby to take me back to the craft store!
It is time to get my day going. Speaking of going, Jenny needs a walk and so do I. May you, dear reader, have a lovely day. Where ever you are going may get there safely. Hugs to you and you and especially YOU!
