Hello out there and good morning to you! You made it. Today is June 16, 2022, and my favorite oldest son’s birthday. If today is your day, then Happy Birthday to you! It truly is hard to believe that he is older than I was when I had him back in the 90s. Hopefully, today he has a good and restful day. Not much else has been going on around here. I have gotten into a routine, and it gets hard to break from it, even to blog. This is good thing, really. I no longer stress if I haven’t posted in a while or if I have taken a break from reading other blog posts that I follow. What is weird is that I noticed that a few of the blogs that I used to frequent have disappeared. Really, what I discovered is that I have unfollowed them and I don’t remember doing it? Weird? I even refollowed the one blog and then it happened again. So, not going to stress about that either. Life is too short, as I have mentioned in previous blogs, so I will keep doing the things that make my heart beat.
A few days ago, Hubby played with the Ghosts of Kelso at a private event at the Cantina located at the Empire Polo Grounds. By the way, we took a wrong turn leaving the Cantina and drove around the polo grounds and it was sad to see all the empty stalls. Looking forward to what the new grounds will look like, if they are rebuilding as the place was just bought by a large event company. Early that morning, I posted on my IG account that the guys were playing a happy hour gig but was then informed that it was a private party. Oops, egg on my face. Anyhow, I knew that I was not going to be taking as many photos of the guys but would be doing a quick “photo-shoot” with them to get a new band photo with all the members. When we arrived at the Cantina, my eyes quickly zeroed in on the field and the large metal rainbow that was on the field.
A few days early, Kelly, the drummer in the band, messaged me and requested a few band photos. Truth was, I didn’t have any ones with all the guys. I had ones from four years ago when there were only four in the band and now there are five. Anyhow, he and I arranged to get a few shots to use of the whole band. The guys were scheduled to play 4:30PM to 7:30 PM. While Hubby was setting up, I walked around and found the two areas that I wanted use for their band photo. I mentioned to Hubby that I would like to wait till they finished the last set, as the sun would be going down taking the high temps with it. It was nice watching the guys play, really. I did take a few shots when I got inspired.
The light in the room gave the room a hazy glow. I went with it and am looking forward to finish editing the shots from that gig. Before they started packing up their gear to leave, we went out behind the Cantina for a super-fast shoot. I think I took less than 5 minutes. The last thing that I wanted to do was make a bigger deal out of it than I needed to. Besides, I have practiced taking photos of the guys for the last few years and I knew that they were going to kill it!
Long ago, maybe like four years ago, I refused to edit more than to take out a dirt spot or change the size. Truth was, I had Photoshop and didn’t know how to use it, very well. What I did was try to get the shot the way I wanted it without editing. Now, I know a little more about it, so it is fun trying out fancy edits from time to time.
The guys really knew how to work it, in front of the camera. It got me a little antsy, as I would like to do a few more photo shoots with other people. Part of me still would like to be a pro photographer but know that I still have lots of work till I feel like I am good enough.
It was a fun night and I got to meet a few very nice people. I look forward to their next gig at the 420 Bank Cannabis Lounge and Dispensary next week. I am already thinking about what photos I can catch.
Yesterday morning, we took a short drive to Shields Date Farm. I have lived in the valley for 7 years and had never been in the place. Anyhow, we arrived around 8:30 and the temps already in the upper 90s. We checked out the gift store and then headed to the back to walk the grounds.
There are many biblical statues on the ground. I had read somewhere that you can walk the grounds and pray the rosary as you walk the stations of the cross.
We hope to visit the place again soon to have breakfast in the back patio. Most likely, when it is not so hot.
Time to get on with day and get back to painting and such. Here is an update on the large painting I have been working on for the last few weeks.
Thank you, dear reader, for visiting. May you have a lovely Thursday and where you are traveling to today, may you get there safely. Hugs.
