Good morning to you. You made it to April 29, 2023 and as always, that is a good thing. Spring is officially over in the Coachella Valley as it hit a high of 102 ° F yesterday. It was only a few weeks ago, that we were sleeping with the heater on and with extra blankets. Now, we have had to turn on the AC. April went by quickly. I even took an unintentional break from most things like WordPress and played lots of games of Scrabble against Hubby and Zoey, an android opponent. Often, I joke to Hubby, that our life is like being on vacation. We live in a touristy area; we drive around the Coachella Valley like tourists as there is always something interesting to see and explore when we are out. Viva the retired life!
This selfie was taken at an event Beyond Baroque in Venice, CA. Hubby’s friends from high school were performing that day.
What can I say about April? April was mostly cold, and the skies were clear and blue. We took many little drives around the valley, and I took way too many pictures. I have had issues with my cellphone (switching from Iphone to an Android), broke a toe putting on a pair shorts, and have had a few medical issues. So, since my brain has too many things bouncing around in it this morning, I will post some of the shots I took in the past month.
This photo was taken in Indio at the Badlands hiking trail at the beginning of the month. Hubby has been so good at keeping me motivated and moving. At the beginning of April, I had a few blooms on the starflower plant and the wildflower seeds that I had planted had started to bloom. “Your ears are so dirty, you could grow potatoes in them” I may have heard my Mom say that a time or two in my childhood. Anyhow, I grew mini Yukon gold potatoes in my compost bucket. It’s getting too hot to work in the studio, so I am going to try and use the patio in the mornings this summer to paint. These are possibly squash or pumpkins. These were also in my compost bucket.I warned this lizard about Tacobelle, our expert hunter. This is the planter made out of an old Coca-Cola display. The compost bucket.Fun times with the grandkids. I know I have a favorite everything, well, this is my favorite tree. It is on the southbound side of Highway 86. Often, I try to take a photo of it as we whiz by and I noticed that a couple of months ago, a yellow happy face appeared. We took a stroll through Civic Center Park in Palm Desert. Do check out the rose garden if you are ever at the park. I miss and don’t miss, this freeway. Traffic was normal for a weekend. We took a quick road trip to Venice to an event that Hubby’s friend was having. I do miss Los Angeles and living in the city.I don’t miss traffic!!The drum set made me drool a little. The bass player, Doug, is a friend of Hubby’s. Below is a video of the guys in action.
This was the best of the three videos I shot. I was shaking a little too much and did not have a stabilizer. We have been trying to eat healthier and have been visiting the local farmers market around our area to purchase veggies. Note to myself, go for the dirty veggies that have not been washed or placed in bags. There are turquoise-colored lots all over the valley indicating that new construction is imminent.Happy birthday Hubby! We celebrated a few days ago!
Time to get on with our day. The plants need to be water and my tummy is rumbling. (When isn’t it?) I just noticed that today is my parents’ wedding anniversary. If they were still alive, they would have been married for 62 years. Well, if today is your wedding anniversary, they happy anniversary to you.
Thank you, dear reader, for visiting. I do really appreciate it. So far, this year my words have done lots of traveling. I noticed that I had visitors from the Seychelles and Trinidad and Tobago, and Luxemborg to name a few. Very cool! May you have a nice weekend and may the sun shine softly on you in your adventures. Hugs!
Looks like y’all are having fun! Love the sweet little spring goodies you found at the farmers’ market. I can’t wait to check ours out soon. Happy belated to Jim! 🙂

Trying our best 🙂 The vegies seem to last longer when we buy them at the FMs, but maybe I am imagining it 🙂
