The Ghosts of Kelso, a classic rock cover band from the Coachella Valley, was back performing this past weekend at the Tack Room Tavern.

The gig started at 7 PM to a full patio. The last time the Ghosts played there they were set up in a alcove between the Tack Room Restaurant and the Polo Pizza Company. This night, they were back on the Tack Room Patio stage and what a sight. The wall behind them was draped in a large American flag and it made a great back drop.

A few times during their sets, a few couples would get up and dance. It was the best and one of the things I have missed witnessing in the past year. I can’t wait to get back out there on the dance floor.

I had a semi-obstructed view. There were a few dancers that would get into the shot and I worked it in. There was a group of ladies that I could hear sitting behind me saying a few things that they thought I couldn’t hear. I guess they were planning their big photo bomb. Unfortunately, they did it while I was recording video of a song. Their faces I wish I could have captured because they seemed like to teenage mean girls. It was priceless.

If are from the Coachella Valley or are visiting, do stop in at the Tack Room or Polo Pizza. Both restaurants, located in the same parking area at the Empire Polo Fields share a large and lively patio. The staff of both restaurants are friendly and helpful and made the experience that much better. Really, I felt like I was at the local hang out hanging out with old friends.
Below is a little sample of the guys performing.
The Ghosts of Kelso will be back out next Saturday at the Cantina located at the Empire Polo Grounds at 7 PM.

I’m with you, Michelle! I cannot wait to get back to real, honest-to-goodness, live music. In person, on-stage, with dancing!!! My husband got a Facebook notice the other day that our favorite local jazz group has begun playing at a downtown bar again. When my antibodies kick in, you can bet we will be there!
Thanks for sharing your adventure, and all these great pictures!

I do miss the crowded dance floors in front of the stage and watching all the people.
Lucky you! I love listening to live jazz, although Jim and I have yet to check out any live jazz around here. I will have to find some places around the valley. I know what you mean about waiting for the anti-bodies. I usually sit by myself, and out of the way to take pics of the guys or any bands as I want candid shots. However, here in the valley, people are out in full force and living it up and I jokingly told Jim “Is this what they meant by the roaring twenties?”
Thank you 🙂

Indeed, and interesting that the roaring 1920s were right on the heels of their century’s flu pandemic.

That is interesting. There is that saying about history repeating itself. Hopefully, not too closely.

Howdy, M!
It felt that I was sitting there enjoying their songs while drinking a pint of cold beer. 😀 I hope someday I’d get a chance to see them on stage. 🙂
I hope you’re doing well there. Stay safe. 🙂

Hoping too that all this pandemic garbage is behind us and we can get back to live music and traveling. It will be soon, i can feel it. If you are ever in the desert, hopefully they are playing 🙂
Stay safe and be aware, there is another virus going around. 24 hour stomach bug. Hubby had to go to hospital 😦
