Shake it up

Top o’ the morning to you where ever in the world you are on this June 10, 2020. Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it. I just read that the Coachella Valley is getting my favorite night back, Country Night at the Lit Lounge. I am looking forward to seeing live music and the people that I have met there in the past. It will be interesting to see how they will manage the room in this age of social distancing. All I know is in 8 short days the Rye Brothers are returning for the first night! We haven’t seen them in a few years. The first time I saw them I asked them if it would be okay if I took photos and they gave me the “thumbs up”. It was quite fun as I recall. They will be on stage at the Lit Lounge on June 8, 2020. Oooh yeah! This will be a good time for me to practice being a good spectator and not bring my cameras. Rules, even I need to color inside the lines.

This is their own song American Sweethearts.

Now I remember what got me about this band, it was the drummer and bass player combo. They put on quite a show for the ears and eyes. The drummer had this killer drum kit as well.

Okay, so when I am medicated, everything has a hazy glow like this photo.

The whole band though, worth checking out and very nice guys, all of them, as I recall. Also, I have heard the Spotify version of this song and it’s just a good as the live version, although I fancy live versions more. Just my preference. So, if you are near to the Coachella Valley check out Fantasy Springs‘ website for entertainment schedules and Covid-19 protocols.

A few weeks ago, we took a drive through Box Canyon in Thermal, CA. Mainly during that drive I only shot video and only took a few photos. Also, I practiced interviewing Hubby. It seems that I will need to practice a few (hundred) more times as he make me laugh. Hmmm, maybe I shouldn’t medicate before the next interview? What is with the sound of my voice? Do I really sound like that?

Reminder, I am not a professional….but I am heard, sort of through my laughing.

Also, I worked on more of the Every Man photos that I took of Hubby and been creating different looks with Photoshop edits. It has been fun.

It feels like that creative block is freeing up a bit. Sometimes it takes time and I am glad I didn’t give up. I think these will be cool to add to the interview I am doing of Hubby. Sometimes when we are out, I will shoot a photo because I like the scene or landscape but then I look over at him and then imagine how I would work him or any person into that scene and will shoot accordingly. It’s kind of like a game, really. I worked on more shots in the backyard with my flowers. I noticed that several of them have blurred objects in them, hummingbirds.

That little bird is right in the center of the photo.

I had walked out with my camera to take pictures of my flowers and I saw them buzzing around so I just shot a few without even focusing as I knew that one of the hummingbirds would pose like in the photo above. I like to practice on birds as it makes shooting live music easier, really, kind of like target practice. There is always some kind of beat rumbling around in my brain to help me hit the trigger.

Peek-a-boo! Okay so now I am focusing on mirrors.
“…love…rain down on me…” More from my water project…

Funny, but I guess I actually play well with myself and have kept occupied despite the current events and such going on in the world. Just because I am not still speaking about it, doesn’t mean it is not on my mind. Keep fighting the good fight, as changes are being made, and that is a good thing.

Thank you, dear reader for visiting! Where ever you are and what ever you are doing be kind to you. Hugs to those needing it.

    Howdy!

Wow, so live music is already on? 😀 Looking forward to reading your post about the Rye Brothers.

And you did the interview. 😀 I thought the photos of your hubby playing guitar were actually shot in site. Great editing. I swear I didn’t realize that they were edited. 😀

The past week I’ve been listening to a Japanese punk rock band. The name’s the Blue Hearts, formed earlier than Green Day. Their songs are awesome and one of which have been covered, and translated into English, by MxPx. 😀 You should check it out.

I hope things are going well there in Coachella Valley. Stay safe. 🙂

    1. Hey you!

Yeah! Live music! Yahoo! I can’t wait. Also it will be easier for me to sit in their as we will have to wear masks and hopefully I won’t be recognized…ha ha!! I had words with the sound guy the last time I was in the room. I won’t be able be taking my camera in as I need to practice being kind and not being an asshole…ha ha!!
Listening to Blue Hearts now, love it. Very raw like it was back in the day. Love the harmonicas. You just mentioned MxPx! Love that band and had not played then in a long time. What a great wake up of music! By the way, I have always wanted to see a live show in Japan. Fans there know how to ROCK!

Yeah, I have been slowly learning photoshop. I have had it for 3 years and have not mastered it yet, but getting there. I am sure there is a book I can read…ha ha! Not into reading instruction manuals, not me. More into finding out for myself. 🙂

Things are okay I guess, not much better than it has been but going in the right direction. Hope you are safe and well 🙂

Hahaha… That’s the perk of wearing a mask. 😀 But sometimes we need to be an asshole to make them listen. 😀

Yes it is. That’s what I love about their music, besides the meaning of their song lyrics. MxPx translated the lyrics into English, it was pretty good.

Yeaah… Me too. They do know who to rock. 😀

I believe you’re gonna master it in no time. It just takes practice, doesn’t it? 🙂

Same here. “They” do everything to cover the main issues hahahaha…. Stay rock! 🙂

      2. I really like MxPx I never got to see them live but my first husband did. That is what I like about punk music and the lyrics. They are easy to relate and sometime very political along with satire, with that fast punk beat it is genius.

Everything takes practice! That includes living! Ha HA!! Like wearing a mask and staying 6 feet apart. Where is the youtube video showing us how to properly stay 6 ft apart in social settings?

        They….are…watching….he…he…he

        hahahahaha!!!!

I guess they want to destroy “the walls” with the music and lyrics. When I was in a band with my secondary school classmates, I didn’t really understand the lyrics of the pop punk songs we played. I mean, I knew the meaning but I didn’t really get the idea,

        Hahaha… Indeed. 🙂

Nooo…. We need to develop some secret codes hahaha.

Stay safe there, my dear friend. 🙂

      4. I guess there is always going to be a “punk revolution” with music. Cycles, right? Do you have any video of your band playing? That would be cool to see! The lyrics only need to matter to the songwriter and then the singer and accompanying musicians acts it out with their voice. Just my thinking. Ha ha.

Yeah, we should… ha ha. I do some really bad drawings that no one could ever figure out…ha ha!!!

        Take care 🙂

Perhaps it is. The movement is slowing down right now but there are still many “punks” under the radar. 😀

Sadly, no. We recorded some cover songs–and one or two of our childish original songs–back then on mixed-tape, but the cassettes are nowhere to be found 😦

Perhaps the most important thing is the chemistry. I mean, Lou Reed’s voice is nothing compared to John Legend. But I bet it’s hard for John Legend to interpret the emotion in Pale Blue Eyes.

        Hahaha…

You take care too! Have a wonderful day. 😀

  2. Something tells me, there will be a resurgence in the punk movement or maybe it will evolve into another form or progressive music. Music of the revolution…ha ha…my thinking. I wrote lyrics about blame and pointing fingers. Hubby is going to write the music for it. This will probably take 10 years…ha ha!!! So right now, it is just a poem. 😦

Oh darn. Well, now you an Madam can record yourselves! That would be cool!!!

No comparison between those two. Lou Reed makes the hairs my arm stand up, in a good way. I never really thought about having chemistry with the song, but you are on to something, sir! You can hear the soul in Lou Reeds voice when sings. He may not be as eloquent as John Legend but just as powerful.

Have a fabulous and safe day 🙂
